The pet portrait of Pip was created from the adorable photo above on artists quality Strathmore paper using coloured pencils.
The size was 9" x 12" which is slightly wider than A4 size.

As you can see the real challenge of this pet portrait was the many different shades of brown needed and the curls around the ears that Cocker Spaniels have.

Customer feedback from Diana about Paintpaws Pet Portraits:
"I wanted a pet portrait of our Cavalier after his death because I didn't feel that a photo would blow up to full size. Julie was very helpful in choosing the right photo to use for a pet portrait and I couldn't believe how authentic the final result was. It is just like him with his beautiful soulful eyes. It will be a wonderful long-lasting reminder of our pet."

Paintpaws Pet Portraits customer feedback from Louisa:
This very beautiful lady is Poppy the Dalmatian and Julie was delighted to paint this fantastic pet portrait recently. See Julie's Pet Portraits On Canvas Gallery.
The pet portrait of Poppy is acrylic paint on a 9 x 11 inch canvas.
Acrylic paint produces a result that is very much like oils and the great benefit is that it dries very quickly. I am of course delighted to paint in oils but this will mean that your pet portrait will take a couple of months before it is dry enough to post.
Sometimes a picture can work better if drawn on paper using coloured pencils. I am always happy to advise on what will give you the most beautiful pet portrait.
This photo of Julie Hollinshead of Paintpaws Pet Portraits was taken with some of her artwork which was being exhibited at The Meniere Gallery in Central London.
The picture is called "Butterfly Garden" and is drawn in coloured pencils and is standard A3 size. The paper used was professional artist quality 'Bristol Smooth'.
Julie puts a lot of thought into which paper or canvas will work best for your pet portrait and very often this is the paper of choice.
